In the early 80s I had Ron Player as one of my lecturers (it was Rusden then). He taught the entire course of Geology and Earth Science over three year levels. It was Ron’s passion and fabulous teaching that inspired me to go on to further studies at Monash and become a palaeontologist.
Ron took us on some of the most amazing geology excursions – gem hunting in Broken Hill, fossil hunting on the Mornington Peninsula, a road trip around Tasmanian mines and measuring dips and strikes at Cape Liptrap. The people I went on these camps with have become my lifelong friends. Thank you, Ron, for the great memories.
