As I dive into the nostalgia of pursuing my Master’s degree in international business in 2004 to 2006, I get reminded of many happy and testing moments that define the journey of any international student. Home sickness, new education system, part-time work, financial independence for living expenses, friends from different parts of the world, etc.
All these brought together helped me shape my character to be a true global professional who could be viewed as an asset by the industry.
Deakin University was my first home in Melbourne. The number of days and nights spent at the University were more than the days and nights I spent at my rented accommodation at Tooranga Road. Maybe my landlord David should consider refunding the pro-rata rent. Just kidding!
From Canteen to the lecture auditorium, I was so much familiar with every corner of the University as if it was my home. Which it was, indeed! From industry focused curriculum , to open book killer exams to heart-stopping time-bound assignments, it was an unforgettable learning experience!
Managing to pass with a distinction was no less than an achievement for me. It’s been now 19 years that I have visited those places again! But I have promised my family to show them those places some day where the days and nights of my struggle, hard work and learning are carved on the wall of memory!
Keep transforming lives Deakin!
