I remember my first year of Arts degree in 1996 at Deakin University’s Burwood Campus. I recall the cafeteria and exams in the old school portable buildings and it being warm and stuffy! I loved my first-year subjects – history, literature, linguistics and politics. And my ‘uniform’ was Doc Marten boots, ripped jeans and baggy t-shirts.
