I was appointed to the administrative staff at Deakin in June 1975 when it was housed in a small office building on Fenwick Street just near Geelong’s city centre. My staff number was five, compared to staff now who have multiple digits!
This was before any staff were appointed from the Gordon Institute of Technology or State College of Victoria in Geelong, and before Vice-Chancellor Fred Jevons started at the University. They were exciting times with meetings to decide on new courses, planning the forthcoming off campus program and associated study materials.
