At the age of 19, I embarked on a journey of leaving home in Melbourne to reside on campus at Deakin University in Geelong (Waurn Ponds) and complete a Bachelor of Public Relations.

I have the fondest memories of studying at Deakin University and experiencing residential life. The high-quality education that I received and new ideas and perspectives that I was exposed to fuelled my passion for communications and community that formed the basis for my fulfilling career that I have developed over the past 20 years.

It also inspired my belief in lifelong learning and my view that education is not constrained within a three-year degree but achieved through a perpetual yearning for knowledge to strive for personal and professional growth.

Geelong, on the lands of the Wadawurrung people, is a thriving city with a wonderful community and beautiful landscape that the traditional custodians have preserved for thousands of years. In fact, I love and appreciate Geelong so much that I moved here with my family several years ago based on my positive memories of living here during my student days.

I hope that one day my daughters will have the opportunity to follow in my footsteps and study at Deakin University to make their own precious memories.
