I was an online student from Western Australia and completed two Masters degrees. My journey was of a mature age student needing to diversify my skill set; essentially, to attract work/projects that were unique and furthermore, I was genuinely interested in. The built environment is huge and not everything we build is new: there is much to do in heritage, restoration and any new works have an impact on the existing fabric. My first specialised degree was a Master in Cultural Heritage followed directly by a Master in Planning (Professional) with an Urban Design specialism. The journey of online study took six years across all semesters including during the summer. I never lost motivation, achieved high marks (distinctions/high distinctions) and was thrilled to travel over to each graduation ceremony.
The online material, interaction with other students and lecturers I was at ease with, despite being of an age to be their parent if not grandparent!
