Competition Terms and Conditions

Name of Competition

Decades of Deakin

Eligible Entrants

Entry is open to all Deakin alumni, defined as:
– Deakin students who have successfully completed a course and applied for graduation
– Graduates of Deakin
– Graduates of Deakin’s antecedent institutions

To be eligible to participate, you must:
– Be an Australian citizen; or reside in Australia and hold a long-term visa (such as a residency, work or student visa)
– Have a valid Australian postal address.

Exclusions: Employees of Deakin and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
If you are under 18, you must get approval from your parent/guardian before you enter.

Competition Period

The competition commences at 12.01 am AEDT on 04 March 2025 and closes at 11.59 pm AEDT on 31 March 2025

How to Enter

Entrants must:
1. Successfully submit an online form (either located on one of the four ‘Decades of Deakin’ webpages, via a lead generation form on Facebook, or via the ‘Update your details’ form on www.deakin.edu.au) including all required fields.
2. Details required include first name, last name and a valid email address.
There is no charge to enter this competition.
Entrants may only register once for this competition.

Selection of Winners

Winners will be determined at Deakin Burwood Campus on 1 April 2025 at 11:00am AEDT. Winners will be randomly selected from valid entries.

The Prize/s

There are 7 prizes in total, to be drawn in the following order:

• First prize = A Mastercard gift card valued at $1,500
• Second prize = Spotify voucher valued at $180 and a SONY Stereo Turntable with Bluetooth Connectivity valued at $299
• Third prize = Netflix voucher valued at $350
• Fourth prize = Polaroid Go Generation 2 Instant Camera (White)valued at $129 plus Polaroid Go Colour Film (Double Pack) valued at $36
• Fifth prize = Deakin merchandise pack valued at $50
• Sixth prize = Deakin merchandise pack valued at $50
• Seventh prize = Deakin merchandise pack valued at $50

The total prize pool is valued at $2,644

Notification of Winners

The names of the winners will also be published online at https://www.linkedin.com/company/deakinalumni/ at 12:00pm AEDT 01 April 2025.

Delivery of Prizes

Deakin will send the prizes by post to an Australian address nominated by the winner. Deakin will not be liable for any loss or damage to the prize when it is in the possession of the postal service provider.

Terms and Conditions

    1. The competition is being run by Deakin University (ABN 56 721 584 203) (CRICOS Provider Code: 00113B) (Deakin).
    2. The competition details above and any promotional materials for the competition form part of these Terms and Conditions (T&C’s).
    3. By submitting an entry, entrants agree to be bound by these T&C’s and entries must comply with the T&C’s to be valid.
    4. Deakin accepts no responsibility for incomplete, late, lost or misdirected entries.
    5. If a winner does not claim the prize within 10 days of Deakin attempting to notify them, they will forfeit the prize and Deakin may conduct a re-draw for that prize.
    6. Prizes are not transferrable and are not redeemable for an alternative prize.
    7. Deakin’s decisions on all aspects of this competition are final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
    8. Entrants consent to Deakin using their name for promotional purposes. Entrants who win a prize agree to make themselves available for a virtual interview if requested by Deakin.
    9. Deakin accepts no responsibility and will not be liable to any extent for any accident, loss, injury or damage to any individual or property arising out of or in connection with the competition or the prizes, whether during or after the competition.
    10. Personal information provided to Deakin by entrants will be used to send entrants information about activities of Deakin and to conduct the competition, notify the winners and, where relevant, to publish the winners’ names. You are not required to provide the information requested, however, if the information is not provided, Deakin may not be able to register you for the competition.
    11. Deakin manages personal information, including requests by individuals for access to their personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic). Deakin’s Privacy Policy is available from the Policy Library.     12. This competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria.
    13. Deakin reserves the right to cancel, delay or modify the competition or amend these T&C’s at any time, subject always to statutory laws applicable to Deakin.

Part or all of any clause of these T&Cs that is illegal or unenforceable in any jurisdiction will be severed in the relevant jurisdiction and the remaining provisions of these T&Cs will continue in force. The legality or enforceability of the provision in any other jurisdiction will not be affected.
    15. Deakin University fully release and hold Meta and LinkedIn harmless from liability, and acknowledge that the promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with the platforms
